The Lap Pool and Rec Pool will be closed all day, March 6 & 7. The Gym is not being used for this year's event, so it will remain open for Y member use.
Swim Meet participants and spectators must enter by the Blue Wave doors at the Linda Bloom Natatorium.
Pandemic Guidelines for the Y State Swim Meet
The Y State Swim Meet will be divided by age group into 3 sessions each day. Each swimmer in a session will be issued 2 wristbands by their own swim team coach. Those wristbands will be required to gain entrance to the state meet. The facility will be cleared after each session for cleaning and sanitizing. A swimmer not swimming in a specific session will be considered a spectator and will need their own spectator wristband to gain entrance to another session.
In order to maintain safe building occupancy during the YMCA State Swimming Championships reciprocal memberships will not be allowed to be used, Saturday, March 6th and Sunday, March 7th .
These guidelines were agreed upon by the Iowa YMCA State Competitive Swim Committee as the safest way to offer this championship event during a pandemic. Along with the host, the Committee has determined the maximum capacity for each event session. These decisions were made after thoughtful and careful consideration for those participating. Families will be responsible for the supervision of their children not swimming during a session. If they do not have a spectator wristband, they may not stay at the Y. The swim meet will also be livestreamed allowing everyone to view the meet. Several local businesses will be showing the livestream. Everyone’s support in making this a successful event is appreciated!
