COVID-19 Update

A message to Y Members & Participants

At the Y, the health and safety of our community and all who walk through our doors is always our top priority.  In an effort to contain COVID-19 through working with community partners, and at the recent direction from the Governor, the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA is closed temporarily beginning Monday, March 16th until further notice.  During this time all Marshalltown Y facilities will be closed and all programming and events temporarily suspended. We are exploring alternative ways to meet community needs in partnership with health officials and other community leaders.

Leadership is closely monitoring this situation weekly in order to further determine a safe reopening date. Although the Y facility is closed, we intend to keep you informed about what’s going on at the Y and ways that you can stay strong & healthy during this unprecedented time.  Please check the Y’s social media channels and website for daily updates.

We’re Here for You

The offices of the Y are staffed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You may stop by the Y in person to talk with Member Services staff, or call 641-752-8658.  Additional staff members are working diligently to deep clean and sanitize our equipment and buildings so it will be ready for your return.

This temporary closure of Y facilities has very real financial consequences for our organization. We intend to continue employment for our full-time staff during this challenging time.  Therefore, we ask that if you are able, please continue your monthly Y membership and enroll in future programming. You may request a charitable tax receipt from the Y for your contribution upon reopening facilities and programs. We also have contingency plans for those enrolled in programs. This will ensure the Y is able to provide services in the coming weeks and months. We understand that there will be some who are experiencing financial hardships during this time. When we resume operations, we will do our best to help serve individuals and families who need assistance.

THANK YOU for supporting our efforts as we work to combat this pandemic together. The Y is so much more than just a fitness facility, pool or place to workout. We are a community, and we will do everything we can to move past this historical event to better serve you and your family.
