Every year the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA Fine Living Council hosts a series of Health Forums. Professionals in the community speak on different topics selected for that session. Subjects vary from Going Green! Healthier Living with Herbs to High Cholesterol and Heart Disease to What’s Available to Keep Seniors in their Homes Longer. All sessions are free to the public and everyone is welcome! Meetings are held at the Horne-Henry Center.

Monday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m.: How to Prepare Wild Game
Mike Stegmann from Marshall County Conservation will teach the group how to prepare wild game, and will bring some samples of “exotic” meats.
Monday, March 5th at 11:00 a.m.: Herbs
Cindy Davis from Isle of Green in Marshalltown will talk about growing and using your own herbs.
Monday, April 2nd at 11:00 a.m.: Balance & Flexibility for Older Adults
Staff from the Y’s Health & Wellness Department will demonstrate some of the best ways to improve balance & flexibility. Participants will have the opportunity to try some of these low-impact exercises.
Monday, May 7th at 11:00 a.m.: Trails
Dr. Terry Briggs from Trails, Inc. will talk about the many trails available in Marshalltown and the benefits of using them. The group will then go out for a short walk on the trails right outside the Y.
Monday, June 4th at 11:00 a.m.: Potluck and Showcase
Bring a dish to share and learn about the many social clubs and activities for older adults at the Y.
